Arts In The Heart Of Augusta

If you missed my earlier post about the "Miller Theater" you can read about it here however the reason me and my crew went on our adventure yesterday was to attend the annual "Arts in the Heart of Augusta" Festival. The Festival is held downtown and it hosts 115 artisans that are hand picked. They also have a global village that hosts ethnic food from around the world. We had so much fun but unfortunately I didn't find anything that I couldn't live without (I have found some great art in prior years). I did take lots of photo's of the festival (as I always do) and some of the historical buildings and architecture.

The Miller Theater

The annual "Arts in the Heart of Augusta" was held this weekend so instead of doing our usual junk hunting, Mom and I decided to go down to the festival which is held in downtown Augusta. We were accompanied by the Red Headed Girls and their Mom. We had a lot of fun but the highlight of our day was having the opportunity to tour the old "Miller Theater". It was built in 1940 and Mom had a lot of memories of going to this Theater as a child. It was designed by Roy A. Benjamin and it reflects the typical Arte Moderne style. Stars like Eddie Arnold and Katherine Hepburn have performed on it's stage and the World Premier of "The Three Faces of Eve" was held at the Miller Theater. The Theater has been neglected for many years and is in a state of disrepair. They are in the process of restoring this fabulous theater. I can't wait to see it fully restored. Anyway I took a ton of pic's and wanted to share them, there is still a great deal of beauty to be found even in those things that have not been cared for and forgotten for years:

We really enjoyed the Tour!
