Vintage Cards
Who would be crazy enough to go to a yard sale at 7 am in the morning when it's 13 degrees outside? I guess that would be me. There was only one yard sale listed in the paper this weekend (I'm sure due to the cool temps) and I debated about whether to stay in bed under my warm blankets or brave the cold. Well the cold won, the ad had listed hundreds of vintage cards and you know how much I love vintage cards.
So I bundled up and made the short trip over (it was only about 5 minutes away from my house) and this is what I found:
The box was filled with cards for all occasions, and they are sets that have not been used. So in the end I was very happy that I decided to pull myself from under the warm blankets and make the 5 minute trip!
Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

Vintage Bread Cart
We had a fun junk hunting day on Saturday. Mom has family in Syvania GA and one of her cousins invited us down to look at some stuff a friend of his had for sale. We invited my brother to come along with us and the three of us set out yesterday morning around 8:30am. When we arrived we did some visiting with family and stopped by a cemetery where Mom's grandmother, grandfather and great grandfather were buried. I found her great grandfather's grave the most interesting. His name was JJ Morris and he was born in 1812 and served in the civil war. I also saw the house where all of my mom's siblings were born. After we wrapped up with all the visiting we rode over to meet the guy who had the junk for sale. He was quite a character. Just like someone you might see on American Pickers. Unfortunately, he didn't really have too much stuff that I was interested in, but you know me I can always find something. I dug up a lovely cast iron bird (that I just love), some old door knob plates, a little bottle, an old veterinarian's instrument and some deer antlers.
I was not completely satisfied and felt the need to do some further junking. My road trippers agreed so we drove to Statesboro and went to a flea market. This particular flea market was practically dead but there was one great vendor that had a lot of vintage. I ended up buying an old coke crate from her. I love the color and size of this crate.
What can I say, that still didn't do it for me. We decided to go to an Antique Shop in Statesboro that the flea market lady recommended to us. Funny story here. I probably would have come out a lot cheaper if not for Mom. The store itself was kind of weird. It was a furniture and vintage store. My brother and I whizzed through it in about 5 minutes and we were ready to go because there were not that many antiques to be seen. We decided to wait outside for Mom and after a while my brother said I better go check on her to see what was taking her so long. As I entered the store for the second time a gentleman ask if he could help me find something and I said "yes, my mother". He asked me if I was with the lady from Augusta and I said yes and he took me to the way way back (which my brother and I had completely missed) where all the antiques were (and there were a lot). I fell in love with the first thing I spotted. A beautiful chippy old bread cart! However I wasn't sure that it would fit in the back of the explorer. We measured and what a bummer it wouldn't fit. I asked my brother if we could tie it to the top and that's what we ended up doing. It made it home safely (although I was worried the whole ride home). So I guess I should thank Mom because if not for her I would never have seen this beauty!
It is so big I couldn't get it all in one photo. Once I figure out where I am going to put it I will try to get some better photo's.
Hope you all are having a great weekend!
