Real Beauty Is On The Inside

I cannot tell you how excited I am at this moment. I found something today in the Goodwill that just made my day. It all started a couple of weeks ago at the Scott Antique Show when I spotted an item that I thought was GORGEOUS! This lady had re-purposed an item that I never would have thought of (maybe some of you have) and I was mesmerized by it. However, she was asking $125 a piece and I thought to myself  "Self, I think you could make one these for a whole lot less". Of course I had to find the right materials and who knows how long that could take, it's not the kind of thing you come across everyday. But today was the day. Here is what I found.

You may be saying to yourself, what the heck is that and where is the beauty? Why it's inside of course.

So I removed the glass from the thermos and this is what I ended up with.

A beautiful vase. The lady at the Scott show had someone make little wire  holders (much cuter than what I used) to set the vase in, but I had to make due with what I had laying around the house. I used a little silver plate candlestick I picked up somewhere for $1. So for $4 I have done my best to make my own. I kind of love it!

Hope you all are having better luck where you are at, one yard sale advertised here this weekend and that's it. So I guess I'll have more time for projects. I also picked up a sewing book at the Goodwill that has some cute ideas in it. Can't wait to try some out.

  6. Super post! I've never thought of revealing the inside of a Thermos. It really is beautiful. As a Thermos collector, I try to keep them intact, but this is a nice surprise.
