Shoebox Full of Photographs

I have been out of the loop for several weeks now. No junking during the Holidays and I have been itching to get back to it (so has Mom). There are no sales here right now so we decided to ride out to the Flea Market. My brother loves the Flea Market and goes there just about every weekend and usually goes home with some pretty good finds (and sometimes he brings his baby sister gifts like vintage Christmas goodies and old Fashion magazines). So me and mom met up around 9:30am this morning and headed on over to the "Barnyard" and we really had a fabulous time. The weather was beautiful (almost 70 degrees) and the prices were right. The first table we came to had a box full of old silver plate spoons, forks and knives so of course I had to purchase them all. I think they will be lovely after I polish them up.

The next table that we stopped at was piled high with jewelry and trinkets. Me and mom dug through that pile for probably 30 minutes or more. So much fun just plundering through a big pile of junk to see what treasures are hiding there. We walked away with a few. This vendor also had a couple of shoe boxes full of old papers and photographs. I just had to look through all of it and was thrilled to find some lovely old photos dating from the 1930's through the 1950's. I also found a postcard dated 1909.

The last purchase for me was this old enamel bucket. It matches a piece I bought about a month ago. I love the red and white.

I wish I could say I went home after the Flea Market but I didn't. I decided on a whim to go by Marshall's to see if they had any good Christmas Clearance items. They did! They did! Post on that later this week.

Christmas Cookie Day

My mother always hosted a "Christmas Cookie Day" with our children when they were growing up. The kids really enjoyed going to Grandma's each year to decorate their Christmas cookies. Mom stopped doing this several years ago as all the grandchildren got older and not so much into the cookie decorating anymore. I really loved that tradition and wanted to keep it going with the great nieces so I hosted my second annual "Christmas Cookie Day" on Wednesday.

I made 160 cookies plus mom brought some.

So I ended up having 13 guests to include 5 nieces, 5 great nieces, 1 nephew, 1 friend of my niece, and of course my wonderful mother. We had a blast. Here are some pictures of our "Christmas Cookie Day" fun:

I feel so blessed to have these beautiful girls in my life. I so enjoyed my time with them and hope to keep this tradition going for many years to come. I can think of no better gift than spending  time with the ones you love.

So I guess I better wrap up, my boys are demanding more cookies (their favorite Chocolate Chips).

French Blue Christmas

Of course I had to do a little decorating in my bedroom and dress up my estate sale French Blue furniture for Christmas. I used a little tinsel tree I found at the antique mall and added the most beautiful vintage silver, pink and blue ornaments. I love the color combination and it looks lovely with the furniture.

A few other touches and the bedroom is done.

I love it!
