The Dish

I was up and out early this morning but not to go junking. We held the second part of our Company's Furniture Sale today and I had to be there at 7:30a to help get things ready and work the floor while the sale was going on. If you read my prior post you know that we had to bid on the items we wanted (you can read about it here) last Saturday, but this week it was cash and carry. I am usually the one outside waiting to get in so I knew the frenzy that was waiting on us as we opened the door. It certainly started off with a bang but was a lot of fun as I enjoy seeing people walk away with items that they love and will take home and give a second life. I too brought home a few items that I love!

A lovely Water Color

Don't know what I am going to do with these yet, they are broken but had to much charm to leave behind

And this beauty

(sorry for the poor photo but we had to go ahead and put everything in the garage when we unloaded it - I actually got 4 beds but this one is my favorite)

Hoping you found some great treasures today!

Vintage Cards

Picked up these sweet vintage Christmas and New Year's cards today. Just thought I would share a few photo's.

I was so happy to find this New Year's card since I didn't have one in my collection!

I also found another Mercury Bird!

 Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend!

Three Drawer Chest

I spent last night catching up on all the blogs I follow and I have to say I am so jealous! I think I may have been drooling after reading Bargain Hunting Treasure Seeker's post on all her fabulous finds this weekend. I loved the Treasure Trove over at Quirky Vistas, the horseshoe set is amazing! Lynda at Something Created Everyday kept her cool and found some wonderful treasures including a sweet little cocktail set. So why am I so envious of these fellow junkers? I had to work on Saturday and did not get to go out to any sales.

Don't feel to sorry for me yet! Our company had an employee furniture sale and I had to work it. So I was in a warehouse filled with rows and rows of gorgeous furniture at bargain prices (what could be better than that). Employee's could bid on items and I put my name on about 8 pieces. One piece didn't have any names on it other than mine so I knew I would win that item but it was going to be the luck of the draw on the other seven. This is the lonely piece no one else wanted. It's a Councill Craftsman Desk. It does need a little TLC but I thought it was a great buy at $30. Councill Craftsman pieces are collectible for their high quality and design elements so I was thrilled to bring this piece home.

Unfortunately I did not get all the items I bid on but my name was drawn for this Three Drawer Chest. I love, love, love this piece! I don't know much about it other than it's an older piece that has been painted and it was only $30.

Next week they will be having a cash and carry for all the things that didn't sell and let me tell you there was tons of stuff left. I am not sure if I will have to work that sale or not but I am planning on being there either way.

While I was working the sale my junking partner (mom) was out getting peaches. I went by yesterday afternoon and picked up the ones she got for me. I was so ready to cut into one but they need another day or two to ripen up.

Hoping everyone is having a fabulous and fun weekend!

Lovely Gifts

I found many treasures this week and a few treasures found me! First up are the treasures found. I dashed out to an Estate Sale right around the corner from my office during lunch on Thursday and found these lovlies:

Vintage Coat
(in excellent condition and fits me perfectly)

Love these pillowcases

And of course some fabulous rusty junk

On Friday I ran out to another sale but they didn't really have that much stuff.  I did find these cocktail napkins for $1, they need to be soaked but I love them and they will go in my collection.

Now for the treasures that found me. I received a sweet little package in the mail and just had to share it.

This thoughtful gift came to me from Paulette at Cheerful Thrifty Door. I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw these lovely vintage patterns. Aren't they gorgeous! Thanks Paulette!

I also received this amazing gift on Monday from a lady at work, it was her mother's. You can read more about it here.

I stayed home today and started working on the cupboard. It has four layers of paint on it. I haven't refinished that much furniture so if you have any helpful hints on removing paint please let me know!

I did finally find some wood under all that paint!

Hoping you all had great luck with your treasure hunting this weekend!
