Estate Sale finds

The estate sales and yards sales here have been kind of slow lately and the few sales that I have attended did not yield much. I hope things pick up now that the weather is getting warmer. Here are a few little things that I have found over the past couple of weeks.

I found this little Red Headed Angel hiding in a box in the garage (sometimes you just have to look in every nook and cranny).

I was delighted to find this box of vintage cocktail umbrellas.

Not vintage but still pretty and will blend in with my existing Christmas Decor.

I have also been working in my new space, having a lot of fun decorating! I have been covering the walls with some pieces I have held on to for a long time. The Sally, Dick and Jane large book page was found at the Goodwill many years ago. I recently bought a frame that was perfect for it.

I found this piece at a junk shop in Athens, it's pretty rusty but I love it!

I just fell in love with the photo, that hat is something else! I think it look like a bunch of cotton balls.

I tried to sell this on Etsy, it is a nude drawing that I purchased at a local artist's estate sale last year. It did not sell (and deep down I think I was hoping that it wouldn't). I framed it and now she is finally up on the wall.

Another piece that I that was going to sell but decided to keep, I thought it was a print but after further inspection discovered it was an original.

Eventually I plan for my walls to be covered with beautiful things!

I have also been experimenting with some art projects, this one is pretty simple but she was my first try at putting together some vintage pieces.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

New Floors

I haven't been doing a lot of junking this month. Starting the new job has slowed me down a little and there is just a lot going on in my world right now. I will be making a trip out to California for a conference at the end of August and while I am extremely excited to get to see the west coast, I am very nervous about the flight. Believe it or not I have never flown before! Also, my new floors are finally going in. I have been working on giving my upstairs a much needed face lift for a while now, pulling up carpets and painting. The floors started going in this week and they look great so far (still have to be stained). I thought I would give you a sneak peak at where they are at right now.

So much better than carpet (especially carpet that has been totally tortured for years by two boys and their million friends)

There is supposed to be a really good sale on the hill next weekend so I am hoping to load up there. We shall see!

Hope you are having a fantastic weekend!

A Junk Project

I did not go out junking today (boo hiss - not really any good sales this weekend) so I figured I would try to do something with all the junk I already own. When I am out junking I tend to buy odds and ends. Most of the time I have no idea what I will do them when I pick them up but I love the charm of these kind of pieces and hope that sooner or later something will come to me. I found and old box (nail box I think) and a very cool old car clock (I think) at a sale a while back and had a thought about marrying them together. I just thought they looked really beautiful together. Now how to get the clock on the box. Since I had time on my hands today I got out the drill and drilled a hole in that box and inserted that beautiful clock. I really love my new planter box which looks lovely on the screened porch!

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Bring on the Turkey - The Table is Ready

Wow, it's been a very busy week. Work (which has been crazy), Halloween with the Red Heads and a craft show with mom (will be posting about that later) have consumed my week. I was exhausted and decided to stay in this weekend and try to be crafty and get my Thanksgiving table setting together. I had to look no further than my own backyard for the crafty part of my table. I know my neighbors must have wondered what in the world I was doing crawling around on the ground picking up acorns and fallen branches, but free beats going to buy something from the store! I stuck the branches in an urn I had and hot glued the acorns (after glittering them up a little) to the branches. I also put some acorns in a small covered dish I picked up a couple of weeks ago.

So here is the anatomy of my Thanksgiving table:

Love, Love, Love my tablecloth! I bought it many years ago at the Scott Antique Show in Atlanta. It came with twelve napkins and it is in perfect condition.

Of course I used thrifted dishes, glasses and silver ware!

Only thing left to add is a little decor.

And of course my crafty acorn tree!

Here it is all put together!

Hazel even gussied up for the occasion!
