Junk Stores

Well still no estate sales but my overwhelming need to rummage through junk drove me and Mom out Saturday morning to hit some of the local junk stores and one church sale.

The one thing I do like about shopping at church sales and junk stores are the prices. Things can be found for less than a dollar. We hit one church sale, the Salvation Army store, the Catholic Social Services and last but not least our favorite junk shop over in the North Augusta.

I am happy to say it was enough to satisfy my craving (well at least until next weekend) and I am pretty happy with my haul.

Isn't he just the cutest thing!

A local piece for my collection.

Just loved the box!

Story Book Doll, she needs some TLC so she may get a little makeover.

I think this is my favorite find, Babbacombe Pottery Fox string holder, when put your scissors in it looks like he is wearing glasses. He is chipped on the back and a small chip where the scissors go but I didn't care. He is already hanging on my wall upstairs.

Small Doll - I know nothing about, but she cleaned up pretty well, thank goodness she has that big old hat because she is completely bald, I need to find her some hair.

I just adore this old folk art doll, she is stuffed with saw dust and I love her clothes!

A few old pins from the church sale.

Lots of Ephemera! I was like a pig in mud digging through a box of old papers, I found some lovely old greeting cards.

These cards were kind of special, they each have a little story book inside them.

This is a hand painted piece. Have no idea of the date but I am assuming possibly an art student painted it for an upcoming exhibition.

The clover pin is worthless but I just love little pieces like that, the heart is sterling/marcasite.

Babbacombe Pottery mark.

Hope you are having a wonderful Labor Day Weekend!

Estate Sales - Vintage Christmas

After last weekend's trip doing the Peach Tree 23 through SC I did not plan to go to any sales this weekend. However, I did spy one sale that looked interesting, I was on the fence about going but talked myself into riding over at lunch on Friday.

I'm really glad I did, I found some really great pieces for my Vintage Christmas collection.

Love the trio, they are not in the best condition but will still look lovely to display with the rest of my Vintage Christmas. The poor little boy looks like he has had a rough life - he has a hole in the back of his head but from the front you can't tell. The girls are in good shape. Not sure if there is any way to remove the dingy look from their robes. I am afraid to try, might damage them further so for now they will stay as they are.

The beautiful Angel also is in rough shape, she is missing her wings and her face is cracking a bit. But I will find her some wings and she is still beautiful to me. I have another one very similar to this one. I think she may be from the 1930's or 1940's.

And this sweet little Santa and some bottle brush trees.

I did get a few other things not in the Vintage Christmas category.
Love this German Half Doll.

Adorable little pillowcase.

A few other odds and ends.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Vintage Finds - Junk hunting with Mom

They held a "Vintage Market Days" event in North Augusta this weekend. I was excited to go check it out so Mom and I made plans to head over there on Saturday morning. While it was a very nice event and I enjoyed it and did pick up a few things, there was not a lot of real vintage there. Maybe 3 or 4 vendors actually had vintage items. I did really like this booth and bought one of the cupcake stands made from old bed springs.

I also found this vintage postcard for $1.50, because I have the dearest brother ever I had to have it.

Since we were really close to our favorite junk shop over in North Augusta, we decided to stop by when we left the Vintage Market Day Event. I am glad we did, I found some pretty good junk.

A couple of old dolls, the Irwin Kewpie Doll needs the arms restrung but other than that it's in good shape. I don't know anything about the other doll yet.

Ronson Lighter in box, an Old Medical School or Fraternity Pin and a lovely little Gold Locket.

I know two red headed girls that are going to want this little Tin Litho Horse!

A few holiday items, tiny Chalkware Chick, miniature Santa Mug and a Japan Elf.

Had to save this little couple. They are not in great shape but I love them anyway! I think from the 1930's.

A vintage child's Peanuts Sweatshirt. I sure did love the Peanuts when I was a child.

Not sure what this is, thinking an Ink Roller, if you have any ideas let me know.

The Hat/Wig Box has a cloth head form inside, never have seen one like this before.

So it was all in all a fun day out junking with Mom.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Estate Sale - Harlem GA

I went to an awesome Estate Sale this weekend. Just the kind of sale I love - lots of junk to look through. I found a ton of smalls for my Etsy shop. I only bought a couple of things for myself. The pictures are not so great, took them at a bad time of day I guess. But here we go (warning - lots of pictures):

I am keeping the J.M. Fields hat box. I just love the graphics on it.

I love these glasses, I wish they would fit me but they are too small.

I listed these vintage powder puffs (but kept one for myself).

Filled up this little box with old jewelry, came away with a lovely sterling charm bracelet and lots of sterling charms.

I thought these old eye glass cases were pretty cool.

Really unusual earrings, they are really stunning!

More old Sheaffer's Pens.

Hard to see in the photo, but I bought the bronze greyhound bookends for myself.

I have found a lot of the old Easter eggs made in Germany, but never like these.

Trying to figure out for the WDW pin stands for. It has an old clasp on it.

Smile!

I thought this was a beautiful piece, carved bone necklace.

Here are some better pictures as I was getting ready to list some of these items on Etsy.

It was a fun sale! Hope you went out and found a fun sale of your own!
