Estate Sale Finds

Mom and I had a little outing yesterday morning. We showed up really early to an estate sale so we could be at the front of the line (I think we ended up being about 5th). Lucky for me, the lady in front of us had been in the house before and knew exactly where the room was that I wanted to go to first. Unlucky for me we stood in line for over an hour and the lady in front of us talked non stop about herself and how wonderful she was - Mom and I just smiled and nodded out heads because we could hardly get a word in. Oh well, gotta take the good with the bad.

We ended up coming home with quite the haul. My favorites are the Gibson Table Number Cards, the Metal Base Kewpie and the Celluloid Uncle Sam.

The Gibson Cards in Original Box and the Cards are in perfect Condition.

A lot of Frozen Charlottes.

Tiny Pin Cushion marked Germany.

Odds and Ends - a gold filled baby ring, lapel/tie pins, button hooks.

Chalkware whisk broom.

Chippy Boudoir Doll/Pin Cushion.

Celluloid Uncle Sam - I think these are hard to come by.

Three Lovely Ladies!

Lot of Half Dolls.

I didn't really like her but I took all her friends so I couldn't leave her behind.

Half Doll Boudoir Doll with pockets for powder puffs.

Another Boudoir Doll.

Nancy Ann Nun.

She is really chippy but she is still beautiful to me.

1950's German Felt Big Bad Wolf.

Lot of small dolls.

Brainerd & Armstrong Thread.

Glitter Christmas Trees.

Small China Doll.

Pastry Cutters, one is shapes the other is the Alphabet.

Old Hair Comb.

Irwin Kewpie.

Harrison Fischer Wedding Postcards in Frame. My youngest son is getting married next month and I couldn't resist this.

Cute Vintage child's shoes.

Kokeshi Doll from Japan and two wooden Dolls made in Finland.

This guy is so cute! He is some kind of metal. I was thinking a lamp base but there is not a hole in his head. So I am not sure what he would have been a part of. It's a mystery to me but he was just too adorable to leave behind.

It was a fun sale and we were really happy with our purchases.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

Estate Sale - Henry Street

Well Mom and I seem to be on a roll, another great estate sale this weekend. I was really excited to get to step inside this fabulous old house and poke around.

It was certainly one of the most crowded sales I have been to in a while. People everywhere! We got there about 25 minutes early but sill were way back in line. I think we were there for two and a half hours total between the waiting, digging and standing in line to pay (that was the worst part!).

Anyway, here is what I brought home:

The Red Cross Nurse Picture is just gorgeous, not sure if I will be able to let go of her, she may end up on my wall. She is illustrated by Alberto Vargas, who I think was better known for his pin ups.

I also found a few silhouettes, I love the Nurse one.

And lots of other miscellaneous odds and ends, Art Deco Tray, 1930's First Communion Certificate,
dresser jar, feather duster, quilted Red Cross pillow, spice holder, Turkey planter, Catholic candle holders, sweet baby diaper shirt and an old suit case!

We were planning on going to another sale after this one but we were both worn out after we finally checked out and got our junk loaded in the car. It was almost 80 degrees here yesterday (crazy for February) and so hot in that house. We took our loot and went home.

Hoping our streak continues!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Estate Sales

I don't think I ever remember such a slack year for estate sales, there just have not been that many around here for a good while (which explains my lack of posts).

I ran over to a sale at lunch on Friday and it was a complete bust, not one thing in the house that even piqued my interest. As I was heading out to the car I noticed a sign on the mail box across the street. It said Estate Sale! There were two men in the back unloading stuff from a trailer so I thought I would ask if they were open for business. They said that the sale was not starting until 3p but I was welcome to look around and they opened up the house for me. There was so much stuff in that house it made me a little dizzy. Most of the stuff was not in my area of expertise but I managed to dig up a small pile of junk and got it at a very reasonable price.

First thing I picked up was this scale. I have bought many scales before to resale, but this one is a keeper. It is totally me. It has a patent date of 1898.

I also picked up quite a few smalls. The Pin-Up postcard is really cool, I think I will be gifting it to my brother since he is a librarian.

I also picked up the following items, they are really outside of my expertise but I thought I would take a chance and I think I did pretty good. Several vintage Rock Concert T Shirts and a vintage Beatles poster.

So not a ton of stuff but several great things for the Etsy Shop and a few keepers for me.

Hope you are having a great weekend!
