Estate Sale Finds This Week

I took a little trip to Estate Sale Land yesterday and found a little box of joy! Hiding in a window sill behind some chairs I spotted a little box that looked like it had pine cones in it. I had to investigate. Yep, it was a box of pine cone, paper mache and chenille Christmas cutie pies. When I checked out the man said that they were from Germany. They are not marked so I guess I will have to take his word on that.

They are in need of repair but at least all the bases were in the box.

I also found a few dolls, the big creepy doll will most likely go to the land of misfits shelf. She was just to odd not to buy with her stumpy arms.

Lots and lots of ephemera, I found a ton of stuff for my Augusta collection. I love the school classroom photo and the photo cover it's in is adorable. Most of this stuff dates to the 40's and 50's. I was really excited to find the 1944-1945 Augusta Public School Directory, this will be a nice addition to my collection.

And last but not least, a 1944 Ladies Home Journal. I love to flip through and look at the ads. Couldn't help but thinking a little bit about Don Draper when I saw the Lucky Strikes ad. My how things have changed. Oh and how cute is the Dennison's Easter ad. The listerine ad with the three kids and the dog is a cute one too!

So enough to make me happy without breaking the bank!

Vintage Dress Form

Last week my brother and I made plans to head out to the flea market on Saturday morning. It ended up raining and my brother called and cancelled on me. No problem, I certainly had other things to do. Later that afternoon I got a call from my brother and he told me that he ended up going out to the flea market after the rain cleared up without me. He must of felt guilty about it because he stopped by the house and brought me this lovely that he picked up for me while he was out there.

I just love her! I have never seen a red one before. Now I just have to find a name for her. Needless to say all is forgiven, I have the best brother ever.

Estate Sale finds

The estate sales and yards sales here have been kind of slow lately and the few sales that I have attended did not yield much. I hope things pick up now that the weather is getting warmer. Here are a few little things that I have found over the past couple of weeks.

I found this little Red Headed Angel hiding in a box in the garage (sometimes you just have to look in every nook and cranny).

I was delighted to find this box of vintage cocktail umbrellas.

Not vintage but still pretty and will blend in with my existing Christmas Decor.

I have also been working in my new space, having a lot of fun decorating! I have been covering the walls with some pieces I have held on to for a long time. The Sally, Dick and Jane large book page was found at the Goodwill many years ago. I recently bought a frame that was perfect for it.

I found this piece at a junk shop in Athens, it's pretty rusty but I love it!

I just fell in love with the photo, that hat is something else! I think it look like a bunch of cotton balls.

I tried to sell this on Etsy, it is a nude drawing that I purchased at a local artist's estate sale last year. It did not sell (and deep down I think I was hoping that it wouldn't). I framed it and now she is finally up on the wall.

Another piece that I that was going to sell but decided to keep, I thought it was a print but after further inspection discovered it was an original.

Eventually I plan for my walls to be covered with beautiful things!

I have also been experimenting with some art projects, this one is pretty simple but she was my first try at putting together some vintage pieces.

This Week's Treasures

One lone Estate Sale this weekend and I ended up running over there this morning. Pretty sure all the good stuff would be picked over and gone but I went anyway to pick through the leftovers. I didn't really find anything much to put in the Etsy shop but did get a couple of things for my misfits display.

I fell in love with this lovely angel even though she is damaged. She will still shine somewhere on my misfits shelf. She is still in her original box marked West Germany.

I thought I would sell this lovely chalk ware couple on Etsy but when I got it home I realized that the Groom's Hat is chipped off (now why didn't I notice that when I picked it up). Oh well, again to my misfits shelf.

I found a whole bag of vintage Beistle Honeycomb Wedding Bells.

And a few other odds and ends.

So not to bad for leftovers!
