Lovely Gifts

I found many treasures this week and a few treasures found me! First up are the treasures found. I dashed out to an Estate Sale right around the corner from my office during lunch on Thursday and found these lovlies:

Vintage Coat
(in excellent condition and fits me perfectly)

Love these pillowcases

And of course some fabulous rusty junk

On Friday I ran out to another sale but they didn't really have that much stuff.  I did find these cocktail napkins for $1, they need to be soaked but I love them and they will go in my collection.

Now for the treasures that found me. I received a sweet little package in the mail and just had to share it.

This thoughtful gift came to me from Paulette at Cheerful Thrifty Door. I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw these lovely vintage patterns. Aren't they gorgeous! Thanks Paulette!

I also received this amazing gift on Monday from a lady at work, it was her mother's. You can read more about it here.

I stayed home today and started working on the cupboard. It has four layers of paint on it. I haven't refinished that much furniture so if you have any helpful hints on removing paint please let me know!

I did finally find some wood under all that paint!

Hoping you all had great luck with your treasure hunting this weekend!

Singer Featherweight Portable Sewing Mahine

Last week I was visiting with the girls in the Accounting office at work. They know that I am a vintage girl and they always ask about my junking adventures. They have a new lady in their office and she overheard us talking and we ended up having a nice conversation about my crazy love for all things old. The next day she asked me if I might want an old sewing machine that belonged to her mother. I almost said no because I already have several old sewing machines up in my sewing room and in my mind I was envisioning a great big old sewing machine in a great big old cabinet (yes I already have one of those too!) which I would have no room for, but when she said she would bring it in to work on Monday (she's not superwomen so I knew it must not be that big) I reconsidered and said yes. I am so glad I did! I was amazed at the beautiful object that came out of the little case she lugged in! Take a peek:

Her mother must have taken great care of this lovely little machine. It had all it's pieces and parts and the operating manual.

All in it's original case.

Loving this little black beauty!

Frogs and Freebies

I was off most of the week so I had the opportunity to do a little treasure hunting on Friday. Mom and I mapped out three Estate Sales that we wanted to check out. The first sale was by far the best. Everything was priced so cheap! The down side was that we got there a little late. I saw a girl walking out with a vintage industrial chair and I could just kick myself for not getting there earlier. Anyway we all but ran to the house and there was a lot of great furniture inside however we missed out on most of it. I did buy a little cupboard for $35 (it's still in the Explorer - The boys are going to unload it tonight) and Mom got a bookcase for $5. We also picked up a lot of small stuff. Everything on the back porch was free. After much digging I came up with three flower frogs, a lovely old picture frame and a funky clamp lamp.

Great Freebies!

Sale number two was good but higher priced and the items were not that old. I bought a lot of garden items, a decorative angel and another flower frog but Mom found the deal of the day. She bought a little jeweled elephant and come to find out it's a J Strongwater piece.

Sale number three yielded zilch. The house was pretty much empty.

Okay the boys unloaded the cupboard before I published my post, so here is the little green cupboard:

Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend and found lots of treasures!
