Throwing Some Junk Together

I stayed in this weekend (blah). Mom and I had discussed going to an estate sale in Columbia SC but I think mom was feeling a little under the weather and we cancelled. So I took advantage of the time at home working on organizing my sewing room. The inventory of junk I have picked up has threatened to overtake my sewing space. My work keeps me very busy during this time of year and will not let up until after the first week in April, so most of my finds just get thrown into my sewing room until I can decide if I am going to keep them or put them in the booth. Anyway, back to the job at hand. I will be the first to admit that my sewing room is a disaster. I wanted to organize and display some of my vintage sewing goodies (I always, always pick up vintage sewing items at sales). So that is where I started. Although I still have a lot of work to do I did make a lot of progress. So here is a peak at some of my vintage sewing goodies:

I think it's so great that a bunch of random junk can come together to make such a beautiful display. I still have a ways to go with this room and will share more as I get it together.

Hope you all had a fabulous weekend and found many lovely vintage goodies!

  1. I love the old V and the white buttons, looking great so far. My sewing room is a bit the same, it's where everything goes before I find it a home.

  2. Buttons and patterns - I have a tin of buttons that my grandmother saved and a large container of old patterns. I can't bear to part with them - it must be that connection that I miss since she's in heaven now.

  4. How pretty! I know what you mean about being overwhelmed. My storytelling room is like that now with eBay things. I think I need a flea market booth, just to have a place to put this stuff!

I love your sewing things--what a great idea for a collection.

  5. Thanks for sharing your sewing room with us. I know just what you mean about that kind of space being a "catch-all". Mine sure is! I think it's because the sewing table can hold so much that it's just where I dump all my thrifted goodies until I decide if I'm going to keep them, sell them, or pass them to my kids. Good luck with your organization!
