Estate Sales

I don't think I ever remember such a slack year for estate sales, there just have not been that many around here for a good while (which explains my lack of posts).

I ran over to a sale at lunch on Friday and it was a complete bust, not one thing in the house that even piqued my interest. As I was heading out to the car I noticed a sign on the mail box across the street. It said Estate Sale! There were two men in the back unloading stuff from a trailer so I thought I would ask if they were open for business. They said that the sale was not starting until 3p but I was welcome to look around and they opened up the house for me. There was so much stuff in that house it made me a little dizzy. Most of the stuff was not in my area of expertise but I managed to dig up a small pile of junk and got it at a very reasonable price.

First thing I picked up was this scale. I have bought many scales before to resale, but this one is a keeper. It is totally me. It has a patent date of 1898.

I also picked up quite a few smalls. The Pin-Up postcard is really cool, I think I will be gifting it to my brother since he is a librarian.

I also picked up the following items, they are really outside of my expertise but I thought I would take a chance and I think I did pretty good. Several vintage Rock Concert T Shirts and a vintage Beatles poster.

So not a ton of stuff but several great things for the Etsy Shop and a few keepers for me.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

Estate Sale - Old Egg Crate

I ran over to the only interesting sale that was advertised this week during my lunch break on Friday. I would have gone with Mom earlier that morning but I had a work obligation that I had to attend to so we were unable to meet up.

Mom called me after she had done a run through and she was pretty happy with her purchases. She got an old mannequin bust (I was so jealous!! but really happy for her because she has been wanting one for a while now), some old glove molds (again - jealous), and an assortment of charming vintage smalls.

So with that in mind I couldn't wait to get there. Well most of the items I would have been interested in were already sold by the time I strolled in the door so I had to really hunt for my treasures. I did find two really fantastic items that I will be keeping for myself. A great old egg crate and an collapsible Laundry Basket.

After circling around the house about 3 times, I also came away with these smalls.

The pig shoes were too cute to pass up!

Hoping you are having a wonderful weekend!

Estate Sales

I have not been to an estate sale in over a month, not much really goes on here during the holidays. Finally this weekend, there were four listed and I was more than ready to go. I actually only hit two of them and didn't really spend much (which is a good thing). I only bought one thing for myself and the rest to list on Etsy (which is a good thing). I often want to keep everything I buy but I tried to be focused on resale this time around.

Sale #1 had some really pretty things (that I wanted for myself) however they were more than I wanted to pay. So I picked up these treasures for resale.

My Dad loved to fish, I couldn't resist this photo for $1 of a man out in his front yard with his rod and reel.

The Coke thermometer sign (missing the thermometer) is a keeper for me. I will find some place to hang it.

Lots of Doll stuff, the little leather boxing gloves are adorable.

Some Catholic Collectibles.

A closer look at the boxing gloves. They may be for the 1940's Candy Kid Doll but I am not sure.

Lots of old doll clothes, these are a few of my favorites.

And that was about it at sale #1. Sale #2 did not really have a lot of my kind of stuff, but I did find a lot of old pin backs. One is from the late 1800's.

And a tiny bit of vintage Christmas!

I guess it was enough to sustain me for another week, just hoping that things pick up here in estate sale land.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!
