Lovely Gifts

I found many treasures this week and a few treasures found me! First up are the treasures found. I dashed out to an Estate Sale right around the corner from my office during lunch on Thursday and found these lovlies:

Vintage Coat
(in excellent condition and fits me perfectly)

Love these pillowcases

And of course some fabulous rusty junk

On Friday I ran out to another sale but they didn't really have that much stuff.  I did find these cocktail napkins for $1, they need to be soaked but I love them and they will go in my collection.

Now for the treasures that found me. I received a sweet little package in the mail and just had to share it.

This thoughtful gift came to me from Paulette at Cheerful Thrifty Door. I can't tell you how excited I was when I saw these lovely vintage patterns. Aren't they gorgeous! Thanks Paulette!

I also received this amazing gift on Monday from a lady at work, it was her mother's. You can read more about it here.

I stayed home today and started working on the cupboard. It has four layers of paint on it. I haven't refinished that much furniture so if you have any helpful hints on removing paint please let me know!

I did finally find some wood under all that paint!

Hoping you all had great luck with your treasure hunting this weekend!

  3. The detail on the sewing machine is fabulous. What a great gift. I know the cupboard will look wonderful once you've finished restoring it. How exciting to see the old wood being revealed bit by bit.

  18. You are so lucky with the sewing machine!! I just scored one via ebay for 200 pounds! Do you know you can check what year it was made? Go to the Singer website & they have a list of the dates from the serial numbers.
As for the painting, I would do a lead test first & if there is none, I would use a heat gun & scraper.
    Good luck
