Estate Sale Finds

I got off work early on Friday and what do you know there was an estate sale just around the corner from my house (how convenient). I stopped in and stayed a while. Since I hit the sale so late in the afternoon there were no crowds to fight. Just a few people here and there. I had a really lovely conversation with an older lady who was sitting on the couch waiting for her friend to check out and get her stuff loaded. We discussed our mutual love of junking and here is the advice she gave me. She said if you buy something and you get it home and decide it was a mistake you can always sell it or give it away, but if you see something and you don't buy it you may regret it later on. I told her that my brother always tells me "if you like it, buy it" and my mother always says "what do you need that for". She told me to stop shopping with my mother. That made me laugh! I took my time going through the house and found some really cute stuff.

I love the old tins, they come in handy as storage or for Etsy shipping. There was a table full of these lovely old tins and I grabbed the ones that appealed to me, and at .50 each they were a bargain. I have since learned that the New York one is from the 1939 World's Fair.

Frogs! I love them and can never resist a cute one (or two)!

Over the past couple of months I have found several of these ceramic hands. I gave them to Mom to use for displaying her jewelry but I think I am going to keep this one. It is so dainty.

Here are a few other items I picked up. Some cigar boxes, a little graduate, and jumbo playing cards.

I found this in the top of the closet in a package labeled "Uncle Dave". A very lovely old shirt, tie and cravat.

After I paid and had my stuffed packed up and ready to load in the car I noticed a bunch of boxes in the garage so I went back in and asked what was in the garage. I was told it was mostly just trash but I was welcome to pick through it and take anything I found. There wasn't much but I did manage to find a few things. Here are my freebies from the garage:

On a different note, we celebrated my oldest niece's Birthday yesterday. She just turned 40. When she was born we didn't think we would have her for very long (she was born with Spina Bifida). The Lord has blessed us with 40 years of this sweet angel and we celebrated big time yesterday!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
